Community Services and the Youth Wellness Centre have an exciting opportunity that we’d like to share with you and we hope that you will share it too!
The Youth Wellness Centre has always been about community. It is a place that was started by concerned community members and service providers working together, caring local businesses providing support, generous citizens giving of their time, money and expertise, and the youth voice sharing what works for them. It is about a small community that feels the pain personally when our youth are struggling, or when we lose a youth to suicide. It is about a community who stands up and says our youth deserve better.
It is everything good in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows rolled into one place that is demonstrating it is creating healthy, strong and resilient youth becoming the best they can be.
Your child — your niece, or nephew — your grandchild — the young person next door who seems to have everything going for them in life — but is quietly suffering inside to keep up appearances.
When these youth in our community are struggling with mental health and addiction challenges where in OUR community can they turn for help in the moment they need it?
Since its opening in 2016 that answer is more and more the Youth Wellness Centre!
Last year we saw over 200 youth and young people impacting over 400 family members.
This year that has increased to 800 young people coming through the door!
The Youth Wellness Centre is working for our youth. Now it is time for us to take what is working well and make it even better.
We need to grow in order to continue to provide the care and resources our youth have clearly demonstrated they need. Our first step is to transition to a Foundry centre — this is not merely a name change, but an incredible opportunity for our community to tap into more resources such as annual funding for programming, access to centralized resources and expertise, and a network of centres that our youth can access with confidence outside of their community should they need it.
In addition, we need to increase our size in order to accommodate the vast number of youth and their families who are now coming to the centre for support, and to add in the additional programming space they need.
This is where the exciting opportunity comes in!
We’ve already started renovations in our space with an expected Grand Opening in January. Part of the renovation will allow us to recognize generous contributors in the community through a Naming Campaign.
YOUR NAME HERE!
Your company, organization, or family name on the walls of Foundry Ridge Meadows is a clear indication to the community, and youth of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows that you stand beside them — support them — believe in them — even in their most vulnerable moments.
Your sponsorship is much more than a name on the wall. It helps create a safe and welcoming space where our youth have an opportunity to build resiliency, hope and courage to carry with them well into the future.
In recognition of your support, your name will appear in your selected space for the next ten years and help support the next generation of young people. There are limited spaces available in a range of sizes so please act fast!
If you wish to learn more about this unique opportunity in our community and give where you live, please contact Shelley (information below) to receive an information package.
Once again thank you for your support. We thank you, our families thank you, and most importantly the youth thank you!
