Community-Based Victim Services Worker

This is a regular 33 hour/week position.  Under the direction of the Program Supervisor, this position provides direct services to victims of adult sexual assault, child abuse and spousal assault and their families by providing practical assistance and emotional support throughout the justice system. This position is responsible for developing a comprehensive, integrated service with other victim services and agencies in the community. Shall promote the service within the community

Qualifications (education and experience)

A minimum of a certificate/ diploma or equivalent combination of related education and experience in the human service field and; additional training and experience in working with victim populations using a trauma-informed approach to service is desired.

Current First Aid/CPR certificate; positive references and; a clean Criminal Record Check is required.

Required Skills (knowledge and skills)

The ideal candidate is a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Must possess proven ability to working in the areas of family dynamics/family violence, sexual/physical assault issues, child development, self-esteem and communication issues. Must be able to develop and maintain liaising with community agencies and Ministries.  Demonstrated knowledge of the justice system, police and court procedures and possess excellent written/verbal communication skills. Demonstrated case management abilities including record keeping and statistics are required. The ability to work independently as well as within a collaborative team model is essential. Receptionist/Medical Office Assistant (MOA)

The Receptionist/MOA is the first point of contact for youth and families who come to the Centre. Welcoming, personable and calm personality are a must. Other duties will include a variety of administrative, secretarial and general clerical duties such as screening and prioritizing incoming correspondence, maintaining appointment calendars for designated staff. Performs reception, and receives and processes intake referrals, answers routine inquiries, billing and books appointments.  Maintains client charts and filing systems through electronic medical records system (EMR), and monitors and orders office and clinic supplies, and cleans and sterilizes medical equipment as required.

Qualifications (education and experience)

Grade 12, plus Medical Office Assistant course from a recognized institution. Should have three (3) years recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Registered Clinical Counsellor (part-time, temporary)

Foundry Ridge Meadows is a safe and supportive place for youth and young adults between the ages 12-24 years old living with mental health and/or substance use challenges. We are seeking a registered clinical counsellor to join our integrated team offering services such as counselling, substance use support, psychiatric assessment, navigation of resources, primary care and opportunity to engage in a number of different social activities. As an integral part of the integrated team,the clinical counsellor will bring extensive work experience with youth and young adults and provide client and family care from a trauma-informed approached.The counselling framework is strength based within a Brief Solution Focused model for youth and their families.  

Provides initial screening, client assessment, treatment recommendations and plans, determines referral needs, provides case management and follow-up support, provides therapy including group therapy, liaises regarding complex situations, provides group education, liaison with community resources for specialized services, and supports clients, maintaining respect for client dignity and maximum client self-determination and independence in provision of services. Participates in the development of standardized documents, procedures and process, and contributes to the collation of data analytics.

Provides a continuum of counselling services within our walk-in services at Foundry Ridge Meadows.To ensure efficient and appropriate support the Clinician Counsellor  will collaborate with the Clinical Lead and communicate effectively within the intergrated care team with the additional support of utilizing an electronic records system.

Qualifications (education and experience)

Master’s Degree in an applicable social or health sciences program such as Counselling Psychology. One (1) year recent, related experience with youth in a mental health or substance use setting, or two (2) years' recent related experience working with clients and families with, or affected by, mental illness and substance use disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registered with relevant/applicable professional association.

Required Skills (knowledge and skills)

The Clinician Counsellor will have a minimum of 3 years counselling experience with youth, young adults, couples and families. Demonstrated experience with clinical assessments, risk assessments, various therapy modalities including Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) work and a Trauma Informed approach. The desire and ability to update knowledge and skills through technology-based opportunities, courses, workshops and conferences. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to engage and interact in a  relevant fashion be open minded and non-judgmental witin our diverse youth population. Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a moving and innovative work place.
