Affordable Family Counselling

Affordable Family Counselling

Hours of Service
Flexible hours; including evenings and weekends

Purpose Statement
Community Services has developed a program intended to make counselling available to individuals within the community who may not be covered by an Employee Assistance Program and are able to pay a nominal fee to access counselling services.  Where space allows, individuals from other communities may request access to this program.

About Program
The program is staffed by registered, masters level counsellors, who are experienced working with  individuals, couples, children aged 4 and over, youth, families and extended family groups.  Counselling sessions are approximately fifty minutes in length and the fee for service is $60.00 per 50 minute session. This fee may be revised periodically so please be sure to confirm.   The program has a relatively quick response time and applicants can usually gain access to the program within several weeks of initial contact.  The program also offers flexible hours and special times can usually be arranged to accommodate your needs.

The Counsellors are experienced in working with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma and stress, life transitions and decisions, relationship concerns, parenting challenges and self-esteem and identity issues.  This program also provides service to individuals and families who have been victims of crime and who have a Police file number, and are registered with the Victim Services Program.

Who Qualifies/Eligibility
We are able to offer flexible hours including evenings and Saturdays. We serve children, youth, adults and seniors, and individuals, couples and families. Counselling can address a range of issues, including but not limited to: Depression and anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, stress and illness, life decisions, life transitions, improved coping skills, relationship concerns and issues, parenting challenges, enhancing self-esteem and planning for the future.

In order to join the program please call Community Services and leave your phone contact number(s) on the counselling intake line. Within a week you will be contacted.  At that time you will be assigned to a specific counsellor ( based upon your counselling needs)  who will contact you with an appointment time. Since this  appointment will be held specifically for you will be asked to provide financial information at that time. Payment can be made either by credit card over the phone, or by dropping off  payment in person at the agency.

Note:   Some extended health plans cover clinical counselling services, and provide reimbursement.  Please check with your specific group plan if applicable.  Victim Assistance claims can also be accommodated through this program.
